Message Makes the engagement smoother as it gives the disk a cushion as it releases and while engaged gives some cushion to the drivetrain. A non-sprung hub will be more precise during shifting and take off and will allow quicker shifts do to there being no "slack" in the clutch but will make everyday driving a PITA.
